Some Raffle Ticket Prize Ideas
Prizes are key to maximising your draw and selling lots of tickets. You’ll usually sell a few raffle tickets to most people who just want to help your cause, but if you have good prizes that people actually really want to win, you can easily double your sales.
Put some thought into not just the prizes that you want to give, but also who might be able to donate them. The raffle itself can fund some of the prizes, but don’t forget that local businesses may also be happy to donate. They get the benefit of some free PR and look good to the local community, but they can also promote a particular product that they want to sell more of.
The number one prize is CASH! - I know it isn’t a pretty gift, or personal to your event, but whoever wins your prize can spend it on whatever they want.
It is a bit boring – but it does get the discussion going “What would you spend the prize on?” As soon as this happens you will be delighted as word of mouth marketing is one of the best and cheapest ways of promoting your draw – and it really works!
An alternative, although not quite as powerful is to give gift vouchers such as M&S vouchers.
Holidays – now this sounds an extravagant prize from just buying a Raffle Ticket– and it can be if you like such as a super cruise, but it could also be much simpler such as a weekend in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. This is a prize that everyone would love to win.
Electrical Goods – Depending on your budget you can make this a super huge TV or a small iPod – something that everyone will be able to use, or be able to give it as a gift.
Chocolates – a lovely gift that can be scaled up or down to suit your budget. Everyone likes to win chocolates and the more up market the better – something that you perhaps wouldn’t normally buy yourself, but would love as a treat!
Food – such as a Christmas Turkey - a great prize, but you need to be very careful about hygiene and storage. Although you don’t have the “wow” factor at your draw, it might be better to give a voucher that the winner can use to collect their turkey from the butcher.
Hampers – again a very flexible gift as you can tailor it to your event and if the prize fund looks like it is going well, then you can easily add to it.
Hampers can be themed along a romantic track with champagne and chocolates, made more Christmassy with Christmas pudding and brandy butter, or made more luxurious with exotic items that people often wouldn’t buy themselves normally, but would adore as a treat.
Dinner – Perhaps if your local pub or restaurant is happy to contribute you could offer a candle lit dinner for two, or maybe Sunday lunch for ten. Maybe they could also sell Raffle Tickets for you as well.
Themed Prizes – these are particular to your event – such as Golf Clubs if you are a Golf Club, a tent for a Scout Group, a new racquet for a Tennis Club.
Promises – this is where you get to make the most of the talents and skills of people you know who will be happy to support your event. If you know a Painter & Decorator would they be happy to donate a day’s decorating? Is there a caterer who would come to the winner’s house and cook a dinner party? Do you know a web designer who would donate time to make perhaps a 3-page website? . . . maybe it could be tennis lessons, a personal trainer for a week, or car washing for a month, or dog walking.
Make yourself a list of people you know who you think would be happy to contribute, and then think what they could offer as prizes for your Raffle.
This is a super way of people being able to contribute to your cause, but not actually having to spend hard cash.
Finally make such you promote the best prizes on the Raffle Tickets.
